Guidelines for Carers Using the Prime Eldercare Platform
Introduction
At Prime Eldercare, we believe in fair, transparent, and respectful working conditions for self-employed carers. While we do not employ carers directly, we are committed to ensuring every placement facilitated through our platform is safe, professional, and mutually beneficial for both carers and families.
This document outlines the key expectations and standards self-employed carers can anticipate when working through the Prime Eldercare platform. Our Community Standards provide further details on the responsibilities of families and carers in maintaining a positive working environment
Respect & Fair Treatment
Privacy & Respect for Live-in Carers
Live-in carers must be given privacy and space in the home.
The Home Environment
Carers must be provided with appropriate living conditions to ensure their well-being during placements.
Basic Requirements for Live-in Carers
Awareness of Household Members & CCTV
Families should inform carers before placement about:
Carers should only provide support to the designated care recipient listed in the care request—additional duties for other family members should not be expected.
Care Requests & Responsibilities
A well-prepared and accurate care request ensures that both carers and families have aligned
expectations.
Families must provide a clear, up-to-date Care Request that accurately reflects:
If a carer notices discrepancies between actual duties and the care request, they should:
Breaks & Time Off
Self-employed carers manage their own schedules and must agree on breaks with families before starting the placement
Carers can manage breaks & schedules directly via the Prime Eldercare Carer Portal.
Night-Time Support
Live-in carers are typically expected to assist with night-time disturbances up to twice per night, with each instance lasting approximately 15 minutes
If a care recipient requires frequent night-time care, a waking night carer or additional support should be arranged.
Live-in carers should not be expected to provide full night care unless specifically agreed upon as a waking night placement.
No Specialist Nursing or Medical Duties
Carers using the Prime Eldercare platform are not expected to provide advanced medical or nursing services
Specialist care tasks that are not within a carer’s role include:
Carers should only accept placements that match their skill level & experience
