Safeguarding Policy

Our Commitment to Safety & Trust

At Prime Eldercare, we firmly believe that every individual has the right to live safely, free from harm, neglect, or abuse. Our mission is to ensure that every care recipient, carer, and family member using our platform feels secure, supported, and empowered.

While we operate as an introductory agency, meaning carers are self-employed and independently manage care, we take safeguarding responsibilities seriously by maintaining high standards, clear reporting channels, and a dedicated safeguarding team to address concerns.

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding refers to the measures taken to protect adults at risk from harm, abuse, or neglect and promote their well-being. This includes physical, emotional, financial, and psychological protection, ensuring that all care recipients live with dignity, respect, and independence.

An adult at risk is someone who, due to age, disability, or circumstances, requires additional protection and support to stay safe. At Prime Eldercare, we refer to these individuals as Care Recipients.

Recognising & Preventing Abuse

Understanding the types of abuse is critical to preventing harm. Abuse can be intentional or unintentional, but regardless of its cause, it must be identified and addressed immediately

Categories of Abuse

Type of Abuse Description
Physical Abuse Hitting, slapping, pushing, rough handling, misuse of medication, inappropriate restraint.
Financial Abuse Theft, fraud, coercion, scams, improper use of a person’s financial resources.
Sexual Abuse Any unwanted sexual activity, including inappropriate touching, coercion, or exposure to explicit content.
Discriminatory Abuse Racism, sexism, ageism, disability discrimination, homophobia, or religious prejudice.
Organisational Abuse Poor care practices, inadequate staffing, and neglect in institutional settings.
Neglect & Acts of Omission Failing to provide essential care, such as food, medical treatment, and personal hygiene.
Psychological Abuse Threats, intimidation, cyberbullying, verbal abuse, or coercive control.
Domestic Abuse Any form of violence or coercion by a family member, partner, or household member.
Self-Neglect When an individual neglects their personal care, health, or safety, including hoarding.
Modern Slavery Human trafficking, forced labour, domestic servitude, and exploitation.

By understanding these risks, Prime Eldercare empowers families and carers to take swift action if they suspect any form of abuse.
